The HR Customer Services and Solutions is currently accepting applications to fill up to ten (10) temporary positions at (see locations below). Canyonlands National Park preserves a wilderness of rock at the heart of the Colorado Plateau; at center stage are two canyons carved by the Green and Colorado Rivers. Headquarters offices for Canyonlands and Arches National Parks are located in Moab, Utah. A town of approximately 6,000 residents sitting at a 4,000 foot elevation, Moab provides all basic amenities including doctors, dentists, hospital, schools (K-12), churches, and shopping.
Arches National Park contains the world's largest concentration ofnatural stone openings. Arches, spires, balanced rocks, canyons and fins of colorful red rocks are set against the dramatic backdrop of the La Sal Mountains, rising to over 12,000 feet in elevation.
Natural Bridges National Monument, a high-desert environment, is located at an elevation of 6,000 feet above sea level and encompasses approximately 7,800 acres. Three massive sandstone bridges can be viewed within the deep, looping canyons. The nearest town is Blanding, Utah located 45 miles from the Monument with a population of approximately 3,500. Available in Blanding are doctors, dentists, medical clinic, vet, schools (K-12, 2-yr college), churches and shopping.
Hovenweep National Monument (HOVE) preserves ancestral Pueblo anarcheological sites including tall towers, multiroom pueblos, shaped stone, small cliff dwellings, pottery shards, and rock art. The monument is located in Southeast Utah and Southwest Colorado between Cortez, CO and Blanding, UT. Cortez, CO has a population of about 10,000 and is 44 miles from HOVE. Amenities available are doctors, dentists, hospitals, schools (K-12), shops and churches.

Position serves as a Park Guide at Arches or Canyonlands National Parks or Hovenweep or Natural Bridges National Monuments within the Southeast Utah Groups of the National Park Service. The primary purpose of this position is to provide informational, interpretive, and general services to park visitors. The work involves presenting interpretive talks and walks; interpreting natural, cultural and historic features; answering general information and orientation questions, and providing miscellaneous services to visitors.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Standing for long periods of time, walking for distances up to ten miles daily, climbing and descending steep inclines, bending, and lifting moderately heavy items in a repetitive motion is required. Mental stress and physical fatigue occur due to high volume of personal contacts, occasional emergency responses, and repetitive nature of interpretive programs. Extreme physical exertion may be required while performing search and rescue, wildland firefighting and other emergency response duties.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed indoors at the visitor center as well as in outdoor areas resulting in exposure to extreme temperatures, rain, snow, wind and direct sunlight_._

To qualify for this position, you must demonstrate that you possess either the specialized experience or the education as described below. Equivalent combinations of experience and education may also be used to qualify.
In order to qualify for this position at the GS-05 level, you must possess one of the following:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level. Specialized Experience is experience that that involved oral presentation of historical, scientific, or program information to groups; or developing and/or revising technical, historical, or scientific information for oral presentation to groups. Examples of specialized experience could include Park Guide or tour leader; naturalist; environmental educator or teacher; or other similar work. -OR- B. Successfully completed four years of study above high school (120 semester hour or 180 quarter hours) leading to a bachelor's degree with courses related to the occupation, such as American history, science, public speaking, parks and recreation, education or communications. -OR- C. Equivalent combination of experience and education.
Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. In order to receive credit for experience, your resume must clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment ( month/year ), and the number of hours worked per week.
Credit for experience is given on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited on a part-time ratio, i.e., working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience. No additional credit is given for overtime.

Participation in the Federal Employees Health Benefit (FEHB) program - Employees on temporary appointments, seasonal schedules who will be working a schedule of less than six months per year, and intermittent employees who are expected to work 130 hours per month or more for at least 90 days will be eligible to enroll in an FEHB plan. Employees electing to participate in the FEHB will be responsible for the employee share of the premium while on the official agency roles, which is deducted from bi-weekly earnings. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
