TITLE: Elementary Special Education Teacher QUALIFICATIONS: Colorado Teaching Certificate. Highly Qualified in Special Education. Good communication skills and strong work ethic. Experience working with elementary level students. Relates well and enjoys working with elementary school level students. Strong computer and technology skills. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Elementary School Principal JOB GOAL: To help all special education students develop competence in all core subjects as defined by their individual education plan. To work collaboratively with all elementary teachers to create an effective inclusion special education program with skills classes to support student learning. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaches all core subject / assists regular education teachers in teaching all core subjects to special education pupils using the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and appropriate curriculum publications as guidelines in teaching individual course content and as identified in the students' individual education plan. Develops lesson plans and appropriate instructional aids stressing discovery and laboratory learning methods. Demonstrates effective teaching strategies including use of the technology (Chromebooks, computers, Smartboards, assistive technology) and other standard or teacher-prepared instructional aids. Provides opportunities when needed for individualized and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil. Designs learning activities that will relate all core subjects to the physical world. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment. Evaluates each pupil's progress in all core subjects using school-approved progress-monitoring tools and technology. Budgets, selects and requisitions books, instructional aids, and instructional supplies; maintains required inventory records. Communicates with parents to interpret contemporary methods in teaching all core subjects and with parents and school counselors to discuss the individual pupil's progress. Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district, and in self-selected professional growth activities. Identifies pupil need, and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems. Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day. Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs. Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities such as mathematics teams. Collaborates with teachers and assists them in making appropriate accommodations and modifications for special education students. Continues to develop the Response to Intervention Model. Develops the inclusion of special education students in to regular classrooms with accommodation and modifications. Completes and organizes all special education records in a timely manner and communicates this information to the appropriate regular education teachers. Develops and maintains Formative Behavior Assessments and behavior plans. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary: Based upon the District's adopted salary schedule Work Schedule: 175 days per year or as designated by the annual school calendar. Salary and work-year to be established by the board. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
