Surface Landman

The position of Surface Landman will work from Kinder Morgan?s Cortez, Colorado office. This position will report to the Land Manager and is responsible for the company?s surface operations in Southwest Colorado and New Mexico. Job level will be determined based on the successful candidates experience and qualifications.
Position Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Develop and maintain excellent landowner relationshipsRepresent the company in negotiations with landowners and local officials regarding operations, right of way and surface damagesHandle complaints, arbitrate disputes or resolve grievances that may arise during negotiations and business activities with regulatory agencies or landownersDraft and secure necessary easements, right of way and surface use agreements to help optimize the development and operation of company?s assetsCoordinate and collaborate closely with technical peers and other departments in support of the company?s drilling program and pipeline operationsConduct and assemble title searches and reviews as necessaryCreate reports and communicate project progress to managementCoordinate with various local, tribal, state or federal regulatory bodies and agencies having jurisdiction in Colorado, New Mexico or other states as required to support project requirementsPerform other duties as assigned Position Requirements:4 year degree required, preferably BBA, PLM or other relevant degree preferred7 years or more experience as practicing LandmanWorking knowledge of geosciences, engineering and regulatory matters as they apply to oil & gas industryWorking knowledge of oil and gas operationsExtensive experience with surface operationsState of Colorado and New Mexico experience a plusKnowledge of and ability to draft varied rights-granting documents in compliance with company guidelines and proceduresHighly effective negotiation skills especially in an adversarial environmentExcellent written and oral communication skillsAbility to work in a team environment and work independently of others with limited supervisionEasily adaptable to working on multiple project teams as an individual contributor or in a leadership roleCapable of building strong relationships, both internally and externallyExcellent organizational and planning skillsProficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and WordExcellent organizational and planning skills Must Possess a valid drivers license and a driving record acceptable to the company and its insurers

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
